Caldi Cup kicks off series of Loyalty Day activities
Such a fun way to kick off 2010’s series of Loyalty Day activities!
A tie up between UP Los Baños and Boston Café gives birth to Caldi Cup 2010: The Boston Café-UPLB Loyalty Day Tennis Open on September 25 and 26 at the Baker Hall. Due to the outpour of interested participants, the Cup is extended until October 2 and 3.
Around 40-50 pairs will participate in the event which will include tennis enthusiasts, UPLB professors, staff, and students. A match between Chancellor Luis Rey I. Velasco and former UP President Emil Q. Javier is set to open the event. Likewise, the Department of Human Kinetics invited players from the Davis Cup to do demonstration games.
Caldi Cup is sponsored primarily by Boston Café, One Caldi Place. Its proprietors, both of whom are UPLB alumni, openly express that UPLB is very close to their heart. In addition, Boston is also known for partnering with university students’ organization. Other sponsors include Activade and Jelly Belly.
According to organizers, this will not be the last partnership between UPLB and Boston Café in the field of sports awareness. Boston is looking forward to sponsoring marathons and basketball tournaments.
UP Los Baños and Boston Café invite everyone to witness how the best UPLB tennis players compete and vie for the tournament championship. Free stuff will be given away to lucky members of the audience. This is the first activity lined up for the 92nd Loyalty Day Celebration. (SJCPasia)
